1st week out here in DC/Maryland! Febuary 24th 2014

I'm so blessed to be on this mission! I truly enjoy it here. My
mission president tells us this is the best mission, I can agree to
his statement!
My companion elder Johnson is so awesome! We get Along so well and we
enjoy the company of each other. It's only the 2 of us in our
apartment here in beltsville. We do allot in laurel and around that
area. It's been so get having the companion I do we each can be
comfortable and share things with each other and funny thing is, is
that we can pass wind in our apartment and we both will laugh!
This mission I haven't had to pull my bike out yet because we have a
car in our area. I also got to go do a session and the temple, it is
so beautiful in there I think I'll have to take my family there if and
when they come to pick me up. I have been so exited being here it has
been so fantastic. I don't think I can handle myself. I also got to
give my first Book of Mormon out. I haven't got a baptism yet but I
got to witness the French missionary's do a family, it was cool I got
to witness it. But yeah exited for when it's my turn to do one.
I have had a cold for a few days, I think it's a cold anyway but yeah
I treat it like I should.
One thing I found out I need to work on that I have noticed is my door
approaches especially the houses full of college girls I walked to a
house and knocked on the door and it was my turn to do the approach
and all these girls were at the door when they opened it and I was
like "......................" And my companion had to take over cauz
man did I have to control myself from saying stuff I shouldn't on a
mission like" dang girl" but yeah I still kept my self cool but a cool
story for you guys to laugh at. I have had lots of doors shut towards
me when they see my name tag but I keep my head up and positive. I'm
just so blessed to be here. I can't wait till my bro justin can feel
the same way I do.  Another thing we did also was we were tracking,
and out here you don't run into members as easy, so anyway we were out
tracking and as we were going along we were getting rejected and we
come to the last home on the street and we were like " cross our
fingers" and we go up to the door and knocked and when they opened the
door we did our regular door approach " he how you doing, we are
missiona........" And as we were saying that she said "I'm Mormon to
come on in I just made dessert." And so we went in talked for a little
bit and they it got to where we need to go and so yeah it was funny to
go to a house they were already a member it so weird not running it to
them all over! So yeah another cool story.
I'm so glad I have an iPad here because it has helped allot
organization wise and weight wise also.
I enjoy reading over my letters I got in the MTC because I have got
many being out here but it takes a while because it goes to the
mission office first then they forward it to my apartment which takes
about 2 weeks so yeah it just is a waiting game which is all cool to
me because I have been busy with my mission and loving it.
I saw a picture yesterday of my lil sis in her new Sunday dress I
just grinned. And I was sitting at the baptism yesterday and the lady
sitting next to us said " oh she look so cute, who is she?" And I said
"my amazing lil sista!" And we got talking and introduced our self and
I guess she was coming up to her year mark of being a member and she
would be going to the temple. So there is allot of recent converts
here in this ward. But yeah every single person that has asked me
about how many are in my family, I go 10-20 minutes talking about the
family because there is so many of us and so yeah I feel selfish when
I have to take 10-20 minutes to talk about me when it's about the
others. But it's ok im proud and love my family!
Today this morning I got at 5 am so I could do sunrise pictures and
I'll have to see if I can send them but anyway we got to go to the
White House gates and see that and to see the Lincoln memorial and
also played football in the mall which was awesome! I can't wait to
try to go there again to see more but I'm so enjoying it! My big dream
came true to see all this we'll not my biggest dream but one of them I
mean my big dream is to start my family and be a architect or computer
tech guy we will see what happens, I'm already used as a tech guy here
in the ward but yeah. Then my big biggest dream is to return to my
father in heaven with my family and be together forever I know my kids
are sitting in the box seats (VIP lounge) cheering me on as I go along
my mission! (" it will be you doing this kids when you time comes!)
I want to leave a spiritual thought with you before I send this. It
was the one I put on Facebook that goes along with this.

Spiritual Thought

6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say
unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to
pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

Alma 37

We always are looking for the big things in life but don't notice the
small blessings we receive as we go through our journey in life

Alma 37:6

We are always looking for those big blessings in life to help us, but
we miss those small and simple blessings that help us to as well as
lead us up to the bigger blessings. So as you go through out this week
watch for those small but simple blessings and you will be wanting to
sing count your blessings in your head and you will feel good inside
and you will have brighter days.   I'm truly grateful to be in
Washington, D.C. North mission it is a great blessing for me and I
know that this church is the true church and that Joseph smith was a
true and testifying prophet on this earth and that we have a father in
heaven that loves us. We may have ups and downs but he will always be
there with us and say these things in our beloved saviors name, Jesus
Christ, Amen.

I love you all and miss you and want you to know that our father in
heaven loves us all and that we are blessed as a group and that we all
are amazing! Can't wait to see you all again but for right now I'll be
patient and enjoy my amazing mission! Look forward to seeing any
pictures or letters that get sent to me I enjoy those all the time!

Will be emailing later today around lunch time here or something just
whenever we get around to it.
