MY LAST POST BEING A MISSIONARY!

For all those that know or don't know I will be returning home this Wednesday from my mission. Some may be questioning why 7 weeks early. Well it's because I will be going home to get my torn meniscus fixed and will be down. So I will be honorably released. I fly into salt lake on Wednesday at 7:30 or so. I am excited to get home and get into life. Things have been real and awesome being a missionary now it's time for me to be a member missionary.
Speaking of member missionary I have a blog for my return home. It is: everydayamembermissionary.blogspot.com
It will have all my after mission excitement. Anyway I hope to see many of you soon. Hope you have a great week!!!!!!!

BAPTISM AND NEWS FOR EVERYONE!

So I didn't post last week or the week before but I want to share I finally got to baptize someone on my mission. He is 8 and his name is Levii. His mom was inactive for many years due to the family being that way. Well she had come to a thought and feeling that she needed to get her son raised in the church so he can stay strong and not go down the wrong path. So since I got in the Carrollton Ward we have been working with them and going of the lessons to re-light the fire of their testimony to get them going. Well we did that for many months. Now a month ago Levii asked if he could be baptized cauz he felt it was right. At first he didn't want it cauz he felt his mom was pushing it. Anyway so they had a friend in Utah they skype talked to Levii and told him why it was important and how it need to be his choice his mom was just giving him that little push just to get him going. So we set the date for November cauz that friend was going to come out for thanksgiving but he couldn't make it. But one Sunday his mom was talking to me and Levii walked up to me and said "elder simons I want you to baptize me." I got exited and told him I would. We had been working together. The cool thing is, is that as I have taught him I have come close to him to where I considered him a little brother. We had fun times together. So it was exciting. It reminded me of when I baptized my younger brother Zach before I came out here on the mission. Anyway so Sunday I got to baptize Levii and he has been great and excited. He will hopefully come stay with me and visit in Utah later.

So about the news so as allot of people know I was having knee issues well it's gotten to the point I will be returning home early to get surgery done on it to get fixed. They say it's a meniscus tear and I will be down a couple of days and then be back up but I will be home December 16th my mom is excited cauz she gets her son back for Christmas. I will miss the mission. I will miss the fun I have had out here but I'm getting called to return home at his time. There is a purpose to it and I look forward to it. But the other thing is that my bother enters the mtc tomorrow and he flys out the day I fly in but he flies out early in the morning and I fly in around the evening time so it will be interesting.

Anyway thanksgiving was fattening but good we went to 3 diffrent places for dinner it was great!

Here is a picture of the family I was telling you about I won't get the baptism pictures till I get on Facebook

I got to find one with Levii in it.

LONG TIME OF NO POST! HERE IS NEWS!

anyway so its been a great week and month here in carrollton and the best mission in the history of life.
updates:
1. my knee has gotten better and has been healing real well as i have gone to physical therapy. 2 more weeks and ill be back to normal.
2. i am still in the same area and continue to be. i have been here for 7 months and i probably will end my mission here. i have 64 days and i will be home starting school and working. i am all set ready to go.
3. my brother has received his mission call and i got to Skype in to the opening of it. he is going to the New York Utica mission. he will be on the east coast like i am. it is great! we got to chat for a little bit. he had asked me what advice i could give him and i talked his ear off. I'm exited another simons kid is going on the lords errand.
4. one of the members in this ward that i have watched grow as he hit his year mark as a member. he will be serving a mission starting November 18 and we get to send him off. its going to be exciting. he is serving in the Eugene Oregon mission. he is pumped. now we just need to find a new ward mission leader. he is the youngest ward mission leader i have ever had. age 24.
5. i got a new look because i need to get glasses do anything now. but its good i enjoy my new glasses. it makes me look like Im smart and i know what im talking about.
6. for the longest time in this ward we had a hard time keeping investigators in our teaching pool and suddenly the baptisms have been rolling in this ward. we have a diverse ward because we don't have language missionaries for some languages such as urdo, yuraba, and many African languages. then there is india languages and we just started a new language in our mission called amharic and they find many people from Ethiopia.

Things have been great in the best mission in the history of life! Our mission president is the best we were at the mission home the other day doing a family home evening cauz we do one every so often and we had a blast with our recent converts. he always tells every one in our mission "living the dream" or "CharlieMike"(meaning continue the mission(military term)) its been great and the lord has been great to us here in carrollton with his children in this area. esspecially being during football season because people are to busy being focused on the redskins or the ravens because we have the redskin stadium in our area. but we continue to work hard and to keep ourselfs going even though there is times i gets frustrated and almost gives ups at the end but continue to work hard. heavenly father continues to bless us and to lift us up in times of need(ether 12:27). anyway halloween was great. and thanksgiving is coming up then christmas then i will be home. im excited for christmas though. i love christmas the work is amazing. the christmas missionary initiative. everyone wants to know about christ!
anyway my time is short but these are my up to date news.

BAPTISM!

We had a awesome weekend with our newest member to our ward!!!!! We had a good time it took us a while to prepare and her husband was baptized to! It was great next year their daughter wants to be baptized. Renika even got to share her testimony at why I believe that night! Anyway here is pictures. Continue reading after the pictures.

Anyway so this week also we have been little mechanics for the area. Our ward mission leader needed his water bypass part replaced on his dodge stratus so we did that then his grandpa needed his belt replaced on his Nissan Quest. That was fun. Anyway we have been doing lots of service on Saturday we went and cleaned a park of all the beer and bottles everywhere and all the cloths from homeless people. Apparently we were cleaning up lots of jewelry and wallet stuff and personal items from a rape that happened a few months ago that the cop told us about as he was leading the homeless people out of the forest area. So it was all weird but fun. Anyway I hope you all have a great week!

We are looking forward to hosting a booth this Saturday for family history at a Labor Day festival. It's going to be great! Also elder Redmond had a fun 20th birthday that was great!

So this month we have 2 baptisms lined up one on the 12th and the other on the 20th so we got things rolling. So we will continue working hard and doing what we need to keep them on the path! My first baptisms to plan for.

What a week!

It's been a busy but great week! We have worked hard this week and
have been building relationships with family's in the ward to where we
basically are one of their kids at their home.
So this next weekend we have a baptism that we will be doing for an
investigator that just came to church 4 weeks ago or so and she has
just been a blessing from above. I have been the teach for the gospel
principles class and it's been only her in the class so we can just
focus on her. Then we had an event where some missionaries in
Baltimore came to our building and brought an investigator they have
been teaching and he had moved to Carrollton so we have another
awesome solid investigator. His name is Chich. He is really cool. He
is going to be put on date soon.
So we went to a why I believe event last night at the visitor center
and I got to see lots of friends I have made in other areas. I got a
cool picture that I really like. I thought I would share it. But I
hope all of you have a great week!

Families Can Be Together Forever!

this week has been a great and busy week! we have had lots of referrals come in we are working on contacting 158 people that have asked for missionaries or they have newly moved in and may need a new church to go to.

anyway so you probably wondering why i have this title to this post. so yesterday we were at the why i believe event at the visitor center we have each month and it was he head coach of the navy football team. the one off meet the mormons. he was talking allot about families and how its important to spend Sunday together and to make them a priority along with your heavenly family. it was amazing well after the event we were driving back with our recent convert maxwell and a youth in the ward named fortune. and we got talking there was 2 parts to the conversation i want to share.
first: we were talking about what stood out to us in the why i believe testimonies and the head couches testimony. with the head coaches talk he talked about how his family was in utah for their sons football game at byu and he was alone for fathers day but he felt he was ment to be there with us to talk. well as he was taking about it something stood out to me that even though heavenly father has some of his family in heaven he can be lonely when we don't offer a prayer because he wants to talk to us. yesterday i had a feeling in my prayers to mention to him "happy fathers day!". it just struck me with that when days like this come we forget about our heavenly family and only remember to say it to our earthly family.
Second: we got talking about a member in our ward that had just passed recently and maxwell was telling me how she was very spiritual and a dream she had, she had a dream of family in the spirit world type setting and she had some family members that could hear the ancestor on the good side but couldn't be reached because they haven't been baptized yet. and it reminded me of a dream i had that i told him about and it was long ago maybe a few months ago. anyway so it was similar, here is how the setting was, we were in a nice feild with flowers all around and for a second i thought i was alone in this feild but then my nana linda walked up and then my great grandma frank walked up with her and they asked me if i had forgiven the situation that happened at my great grandma franks funeral with the family situation that happened there. here is the story of what happened at the funeral for this dream to make sence. so after my parents got seperated my ex-dad had a new woman and family. well we have a restraining order against his wife. and we are not allowed to be around her. so we had the amazing funeral service and we came back to have the lunch in and one of my uncles walked up and said we had to leave because my ex-dads wife was coming to the lunch and we were disappointed because my uncle chose a family that was not related to the family over his true family. anyway trouble happened and the family split up and some of the family is on our side and the other part of the family i havent talked to in a while. But anyway to continue the dream the 2 of my grandmas walked up to me and said, "why haven't you forgave him" I told them I did not know. Then my grandmas both bared witness to me of gods love for everyone and that he needs his temple work done so that he can be with the family. They know he is suffering and need it done. And after that dream I will never forget what the spirit and my grandmas testified to me and how important it is to do temple work and to have godly love for everyone even how bad they screw up. And so I found his name on family search and he became my priority to do when we did mission temple work I felt I was ment to do it for him and he will be happy for it. My aunt Jolena felt it was right  for me to do it.
I know the atonement is real! i am a person in the past that did not forgive real easy but being on a mission has changed that. i am easy to forgiving people. i have forgiven my uncle and did his temple work so that he can feel joy like we do! he is with his family i know that for a fact! he is with a loving family! i know my grandmas are proud of what i did! For those that dont do famiily history this is why this is important to look for your ancestors so you can do their temple work so they can feel the happiness we have when we get there as long as we live the commandments and do acording to gods will for us! SO DO YOUR FAMILY HISTORY! LOVE YOU GUYS! ENJOY YOUR WEEK!

What a great start to a new transfer!

It's been a great new transfer so far! I have a new companion elder Redmond! He is from Fallon Nevada. We have been working hard since we have the whole ward now. We have 30 investigators we are trying to fit into our schedule. They took the sisters out of the ward so we took their work on along with ours. The stress level is up but we keep working hard.

So the other day I asked the Book of Mormon what we should do for this are or how can we make this area go more smoothly and not have as much stress. Well when I opened it up I turned to alma 32 and that scripture talks a lot faith and you need to have faith for everything so as we went to church Sunday the topic was about faith as well. Then We had a miracle happen on Sunday, The miracles keep coming I love it. We had a lady come to church on Sunday and she said when she visited the temple visitor center she felt something so great that  she has not felt in other churches so she asked the sisters where the closest lds church was and that's where we are. So she comes to church and tells us of her experience and she wants to learn more. She said her attention span is small but she said somehow we kept her attention to learn more so we are meeting with her yesterday. And she has a daughter that is 8 and would love to come to church. So we have received a solid investigator and she wants to learn more and to come to church here more often. So at the lesson she loved the message and she has softened her heart by the sounds of her change. She has felt that this is the true church and she has felt the spirit. She reads the Book of Mormon at her work and the pamphlets we send with her. She is solid and she truly wants to know. The most exciting news is that she has a BAPTISMAL DATE FOR JUNE 28TH 2015! AND ITS BEFORE THE TRANSFER ENDS SO I WILL BE HERE FOR IT! I'm excited for it and to be able to actually prepare for a baptism.

I'm loving this area and the work I get to do! I hope you all have a great week!

Another transfer in Carrollton!

Well out of all 4 of us I am the one staying in Carrollton! I love this area and I get to continue working here! I have someone I am getting to know and working with that I have felt I am meant to met and help come closer to Christ! It has been good. There has been little struggle this transfer because of news I have received about someone getting cancer that is a great friend and scout master to me. Family friends passing away and many other things but it's all great in the end knowing where they go. Next transfer is going to be great with continuing on the teaching of those we have met and we get to celebrate the 4th of July! I'm excited. My last 4th of July here! I'm excited for the amazing fireworks like last year! But I hope you all have a great week!

Happy Mothers Day

It was a great day yesterday for a Mother's Day Skype! I enjoyed it! It was a great day to say the family and to talk to them and catch up on it all. I enjoyed the wonderful conversation! This is the photo of who could be there. Anyway it's been a great week sorry I haven't kept my blog up to date. When I realize I need to update it, it's almost time to update the next one. But I have been so busy in my area that we have a hard time adding new investigators to our schedule. But we love how busy we are. My little sister was funny she made sure to show me how much time I have left. Which to me is crazy I have that left.

Leaving good ol' Kensington to a new adventure!

What a great time I have had in Kensington! It's been great to get to know the members here, to be close to the temple and to have such an awesome district! My leg has been doing better. The knee is better the ankle is better. Just hopin nothin will happen again. Even though I know something will come up! So confrence was so amazing. To many talks about marriage for me. Hahaha I'm excited for marriage but it's to soon to be thinking about it. Anyway it was good when I noticed president monson didn't open confrence or close confrence like he normally does I worried so I found out that he had recently had a stroke. That's not good. Anyway also 2 apostles were missing at confrence. I have not figured out why but elder Richard g Scott and elder Robert d hales was missing till the end then hales came back for a talk he looked better then last confrence. But there was so many good talks. I love general confrence. It's something we look forward to with excitement on the mission. It's amazing. Easter was also amazing. I got to do an Easter egg hunt. To much candy. But still had a blast with the members. The photos below are ones that I thought would be the best to show from my adventure in Kensington.

Me and elder hall at the temple getting a pic together

Me and the DC 1st district. We took a pic of us and we were suppose to bring something that represented us but let's see if you can guess what mine is.

We had 2 missionaries in our district going home so we did their ending photo. The one that's on the right being a fish was one of my previous companions.

Have a wonderful week!

What a wonderful week but cold week!

It is great here in Kensington other then it won't warm up yet, it's been cold and windy. But the weeks been good. We have been getting to know more of those in our area. This white wash is throwing me off a little bit but it gives practice to many things. It's a wonderful ward. I enjoy the mornings to where I can take a morning walk, walk around the temple, then come back. It's been great here in Kensington. I am back on bike. It's been great to bike. My legs feel dead from all the walking I have done but I enjoy it all together and do whatever it takes to get where I can. I also am trying to get to all your letters I have 30 that i am trying to finish. Then it will be good. But not much to say but have a wonderful week!

Kensington Elders!

What a week it's been in Kensington Maryland. It's also a beautiful sight to have the temple right next to the church we meet in and for it to be a place we do our walk around in the morning.
So it started getting warm here but then it got cold again then snowed a little then it's starting to warm up again which is great! I'm excited for it to warm up here.
So I have another injury story. So at the beginning of last week we were moving apartments so we could be closer to our area and so when we were bringing a couch to the trailer I missed the step up there is to the parking lot and so I fell back on it and the couch went up the came back down and hit my shin and so I looked at it and put ice on it later that nigh cuz it really hurt after the move. So I called our mission doctor and he had me evaluate it step by step Cuz the ice made it worst I think. So I found out that it's a bruised bone and it's not Brocken. The funny thing is also is that it's on the same leg I hurt my knee on so that leg must be prone to getting hurt I guess. But it seems to be better the mission doctor told me just walk 8,000 steps everyday and take it easy if I bike, bike with one leg. But that's to hard so we will work on it and see what happens. Other then that it's been good.the cool thing is that it quit hurting when I went to do temple work last Wednesday so that was good then it kinda came back but it's slowly going away.
I'm excited for a new week and a new adventure.
In one week I get to see Jocelyn get baptized I'm excited!πŸ˜„

Same Transfer! New Area! New Companion!

so i missed putting this up till now because i had no access to a computer till now and my ipad doesnt get me on my blog.

a little about my companion his name is elder daniel hall and he is from japan and he is half japanesse and half canadian. his family just moved to where his dads from in canada but his mom is from japan and he grew up there!

Well this week i have moved to a new area due to some changes because of a mistake on transfers. but i have been moved to kensington which i like allot since the temple is in my area! the issue we have is that we need to get creative on our finding activities since the sister use our area to tract when they have spare time on their shift at the temple visitor center. its a small area though. i like it small since im on bike getting myself back in shape.
so this week we have a trip planned to go do baptisms at the temple so we have more names to do sessions for when we do our transfer temple trip. then we have interviews with president this friday so that will be good. thats when we get new ipads! the ones we get to take home!
tomorrow and thursday i will be moving apartments so we live in our area instead of driving 20 minutes to get to our area. we have some baptismal dates set up for the area so far before i got here. on the 28th i get to travel down to see the baptism of jocilyn and im excited for that! i cant wait! but not more to say yet about how the areas doing since i just started but there will be more next week!
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!

What a Wonderful Month!

its been a great month. im almost to saying 11 months left next month. its going faster and faster. next thing you know ill be home even though i enjoy it out here. man dont have much to talk about other then we had a few snow days to where we were not allowed to use our cars. but we still managed to get work done this week and to still teach those we are ment to. this coming week we have 2 trips up by the temple. one for training from general authorities and the second is our transfer temple trip. so lots of car rides. but next week is transfers on Wednesday march 4th. so we will see what happens because we have solid friends (investigators) here. one on date and the other soon to come after. but i enjoy it down south! but all is well but here is some pics for the enjoyment of todays p-day adventure!
